Cisco Meraki Social Wi-Fi

This guide will Assist you in preparing your MR Series Managed Access Points (managed through the Meraki Cloud) for Social Guest Access capabilities. It will also assist you through the process of associating your Meraki access points with the MyWiFi system, for the purposes of managing the Social Captive Portal experience.

Meraki Cloud SSID Setup

First, you'll need to choose an SSID for Guest Access.

  1. Click here to Login to your Meraki Cloud
  2. Navigate to Wireless >> SSIDs

  3. Choose an available SSID slot and rename the SSID to whatever you choose. You will be configuring the Guest Portal settings for the SSID slot you have chosen.

Configure Access Control

Next, you'll configure the Meraki Access Control settings:

  1. Navigate to: Wireless >> Access Control

  2. Choose the SSID you have selected for Guest Access
  3. Set Association Requirements to: Open 

  4. In the Splash page section - select the Access Control Type: Sign-On with my RADIUS Server

  5. Enter both RADIUS servers for splash page & account

    First Server

    IP Address: radius1.mywifi.io
    Port: 1812
    Shared Secret: mywifi

    Second Server

    IP Address: radius2.mywifi.io
    Port: 1812
    Shared Secret: mywifi

  6. Configure your Walled Garden Settings. (Please see notes below for list)

These settings require a domain-based Walled Garden Whitelist. If this is not enabled in your Meraki Cloud, please open a Support Case and request “Walled garden domain name whitelist”.
If you have a Custom Social Portal Enabled in the MyWiFi System. It is necessary to add your Social Portal domain to the Walled Garden Whitelist, a placeholder for which is: *.<White Label Portal Domain> and located in the list below and screenshot above

Configure Splash Page

  1. Navigate to: Wireless >> Splash page

  2. Choose the SSID you have selected for Guest Access
  3. Select Custom splash URL and set the Splash Page URL to:  https://securewifilogin.com


If you have a Custom Social Portal Enabled in the MyWiFi System, you may enter your Custom Domain as the Splash Page URL instead of “securewifilogin.com”

MyWiFi Platform Setup

Pre-Setup

  1. Login into the MyWiFi Control Panel, and create/select an appropriate Social WiFi Campaign with the Social Media Logins and customized look of your choice.
  2. Create/Use an Existing Location for your Installation & Assign your created Campaign as the Default Campaign for this Location.
  3. Create/Use an Existing Location for your Installation & Assign your created Campaign as the Default Campaign for this Location.

Add Your Meraki Device

  1. Click on Devices >> Add New Device to bring up the Add Device form

  2. Select the Location you have created for this installation 
  3. Customize your Device Name (internal reference only)
  4. Select the Select Meraki Cloud from the Supporters Cloud Integrations


  5. Enter all the MAC Addresses for all your Meraki MR Access Points (comma separated) that you want to associate to this particular Location 



  6. Click on Complete Setup.


 🙌 Congratulations!  Your Meraki Cloud System is good to go! 🎉


Access Point Changes: If you make changes to your Access Points, please keep the list of Meraki MR Access Point Mac Addresses in the Edit Device section of your MyWiFi Meraki Devices, up to date as appropriate.
Unable to Access Captive Portal: If you are not able to access the captive portal after connecting to the WiFi. Or if you are entered in a loop when you attempt to access any specific URL. Please make sure that your captive portal splash page domain, that you entered in the “Custom Splash URL” field, is included in the Walled Garden list.
