Why Did Device Flashing Fail?

Thomas Updated by Thomas

If you flashed your new router with our firmware and got an error that says that the firmware flashing failed, follow the steps below:

  1. I tried to flash my device but why has nothing appeared to have changed?

Please ensure your MyWiFi device is from our pre-approved list of supported devices as we only support devices that are proven compatible with the platform. (List Of Supported Devices)

  2. My router is on the list, so why did flashing fail?

Verify that the firmware used to flash the device matches the model/version/hardware number of the device. If the device firmware does not match the model unit, please re-flash the unit. To locate the version/model number, please see the label on your device.
  3. My router is on the supported device list and I tried flashing it with the proper Firmware. Why did I receive an error with code 18005?

If you received an 18005 error when attempting to flash the unit even though the firmware matches the model/version hardware number of the device, it is due to a Firmware lock placed on the device by the manufacturer (TP-Link).
